Nelson, BC & I'm 30

First of all, my husband is amazing and truly spoils me!  I'm officially 30. Have been for about a week now. I'm not gonna lie, it's kinda weird saying I'm 30.  Haha, does anyone remember the song "Strawberry Wine"? Came out my jr. year of highschool - ha! there's a line in that song that says, "I still remember when 30 was old" and I remember hearing that and thinking, "30 is old, I can't really imagine being 30"  Well I'm 30 now.  Ok i'm over it, I'll stop obsessing over my age.  Anyhow, back to my husband - who is amazing! He first of all threw me a huge suprise party with lot's of my dear friends. He planned a really fun game and got all my family involved to come up with a question for each year I'v been alive and I got $10.00 per question I answered right.  For example, "What Barbie was involved in the montage song you created from various tv commercials from the 80's?"  HAHA I still can sing the song - thanks for that memory Kelli! So I ended up with $280.00! :-)  (Black Friday here I come!)  Then it was off to stay at the Red Lion by the River Hotel and Nelson, BC the next day. We stayed at a sweet Bed and Breakfast called, Cloudside Inn and cozied up in a local coffee shop to people watch.  What a sweet time for Brian and I to turn off our cell phones and completely disconnect from everything but one another.  We ate some really yummy food and shared some wonderful conversation.  I will always treasure this memory of turning 30.  Here are a few pictures of our time in Canada.

Our yummy B&B breakfast. Did I mention Grace came with us and was so good. She slept most of our trip!
(below) This is the house we stayed in
We took the longest free ferry ride in the world (35 min.) to get over to Nelson. Called the Balfour Ferry.
 Window shopping
Driving through the Selkirk and the Purcell Mtn. Ranges
Ran into a couple herds of Big Horn Sheep

A New Hobby

So Lately I'v been trying to learn how to coupon and I'm addicted now! I have a few friends who are also getting into it and it's fun to share our scenerios with each other. The goal being, spend pennies on items.  I'v started trying to get good at one store and learn the system, RiteAid (which is like a CVS or Walgreens) and I have found the most success there.  You can use store coupons, with manufacturer's coupons along with the +Up rewards that Rite Aid gives out.  So the first picture I paid $3.03 out of pocket, however it was essentially free because I walked away with 3 +Up rewards (3 dollars to use towards my next purchase at Rite Aid. :)  For example I have $5 off a purchase of $25, so I try to do my purchases in $25 increments. (my total coupon savings for this was $46.25! Plus I made $12 off the +UP rewards for the store.  These were all sale items that I used 2 coupons per item.  I'm not so good at explaining it, but I'v enjoyed reading some couponing blogs and there are alot out there. I really like the krazycouponlady blog http://discountqueens.blogspot.com/.  Anyhow, just thought I'd share my new hobby with you :-)

Birthday Trouble

So yes, I'm officially 30 - more about that after my amazing getaway weekend that my hubby is taking me on. It's a surprise and I have no idea what he's got planned for us, just that I need to pack a bag for 2 nights! YAY!

Anyhow, this morning I was going to take a shower and I put Josiah in front of a fun PBS tv show assuming that would keep his attention while I showered.  Shortly after I'm in the shower he pops his head in and says, "Wash Hands, Wash Hands" over and over. I look and see chocolate ALL over his hands and face (later I found chocoate smeared on the walls). "UH OH!"  the cake! he got into my birthday cake!!! AH!  Last night Nana spoiled me with dinner, cake and a gift (thank you Nana!).  This morning the cake was sitting out on the table covered with saran wrap and Josiah helped himself to a mid-morning snack.  Gotta keep an eye on these 2 year olds, they are sneaky!

2 years old!

Talk about a two year's old Thomas the Train birthday party! That was the theme of this years bday party for Josiah and he absolutely LOVED it! We had a small party with Grandpa and Nana, Johanna and his two buddies Tyler and Chase.  We started the evening by making birthday crowns (Tyler's request), then had a balloon dance party, then of course cake and icecream!  He woke up this morning very excited about his new Thomas toys and talking about cake - which we did not feed him for breakfast even though he really wanted it :-)  What a blessing this sweet little 2 year old is to us!  And he is growing up much too quickly if you ask me.

Grace quietly watched the boys be crazy

This is him at his 1 year birthday party.  That crown has gotten a little smaller this year :(  and he looks a bit bigger now sitting in that highchair as a 2 year old.  They do grow fast...
