Our Little Slugger

Brian and I play on a co-ed softball team every spring, summer & fall.  (Well, I play the years I'm not pregnant).  Last year, Josiah would go to the games and I was able to play while another wife of one of the players kept an eye on Josiah.  For the most part Josiah would sit quietly in his stroller and drink a bottle or sleep, however, he wasn't walking at the time either. This year looks very different out at the softball fields.  He LOVES watching his daddy play, so much so that he wants to be on the field with daddy, which the umpire doesn't usually appreciate.  So my job is to keep Josiah behind the fence which means giving him his own bat and ball to occupy him while Dad is on the field.

Hoop Fest Weekend

We have been keeping very busy now that our summer weather has finally arrived! This past weekend we spent all day Saturday downtown for the annual Hoop Fest Event.  What is Hoop Fest you may ask? Actually, Hoopfest is the biggest 3-on-3 street basketball tournament on the planet. That means over 6,700 teams, 3,000 volunteers, 200,000 players and fans, 428 courts spanning 40 downtown city blocks, and that's just on day one!  It's a pretty amazing site to see all those basketball courts lined up on all those streets!  This year Brian was invited to play with a guy he works with and  he had such a good time!  They won their first game at 11am, then lost their 2nd game at 2, then lost their 3rd game at 5pm.  We weren't too upset that he wouldn't be playing again on Sunday since Saturday was such a LONG day. Here are a few shots of the day.

Little Mooch!

It never fails if you are sitting there eating or drinking anything Josiah will promptly be at your side asking "Bite Please, Bite Please".  It's hard to resist his cute little face and sign for "please".  So here he is drinking my Izzie drink and eating my rock candy Brian got me.  Speaking of the rock candy, it was hurting Brian and I to watch him crunch that sugary rock stuff with his pearly, non-cavity infested teeth.  So we didn't quite let him finish all of it. :-)  Then Grandpa got him a sweet cuddly bear and we are really trying to get him to fall in love with it so we can lose a little of the attachment to the white (now gray) blanket he carries around with him EVERYWHERE (a.k.a "BeeBee"). We are calling the bear "BoBo" and it stuck.  Today he has mentioned "BoBo" a couple of times :-)  I have to say it's such a JOY and priviledge to get to watch this little boy grow up and change daily!

Yay! Our boys are home!

The men have returned from their cross country journey! Started out in Atlanta, GA for Grandpa Larry and he met up with Brian in St. Louis, MO and from there the adventure began.  They were able to stop and see Mt Rushmore and the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.  They even stayed the night in Rapid City, SD which is where I was born although I have never made it back since I was 3 months old.  The only travel hiccup was a bad hail storm they got caught in. Brian says it was golfball size hail and it left a few dents on the truck.  Praise God for a safe trip home and that we have Larry and Marilyn (a.k.a. Grandpa & Nana) here in Spokane to stay! (at least for now...)

Happy Father's Day Dad!

Happy Father's Day to the Greatest Dad! I would like to take this blog opportunity to brag about my dad. He and my mom are currently living in a dorm room in Jacksonville, FL amongst 180 college students. Serving and giving their lives away for the sake of the Gospel.  The picture below is my dad sharing with those students on a beach in Florida!  Thank you dad for being a man that Fears the Lord. Because of that you have greatly impacted your children and grandchildren and the generations to come!

Psalm 112
"Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands.  His children will be mighty in the land; the generation for the upright will be blessed...He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord!"

Nana is here!

It's official, Nana is here to stay!! Brian's mom arrived yesterday and already it was been wonderful to have her around. Excuse the terrible picture quality, but it's the best my bad little camera can do right now. You'll get the idea. It's so nice to have someone else around to read, play and love on Josiah. Grandpa arrives next Tues. after him and Brian take a long road trip from Missouri to Washington!

A love for Corn on the Cob

I have a dear friend, Lizzie Mosback, who just happens to also be my neighbor which makes life alot more fun on 32nd Ave. Josiah absolutely adores her and calls her "CiCi".  What a blessing Mike and Lizzie's friendship has been to Brian and I with many shared meals, good conversations, movie nights, free babysitting (for us anyways), and just having fun.  The other night we had a BBQ at their place and Josiah got a hold of my corn on the cob and didn't let go.  Lizzie took these pictures of him. He loved that she was following him around giving him her undivided attention and he sure hammed it up for her camera.  As you can see no matter what he was doing he was holding onto that cob and would stop every now and then, suck on it, then go back to playing. Thanks for the great photos Lizzie!  I can't wait to get a good camera.

Ok I'm done

I just finished my last painting project. Turned our yellow bathroom into a lovely blue bathroom. It's amazing what a change a fresh color of paint and a new shower curtain can do (thanks Johanna for the shower curtain - we LOVE IT!). Here are the before and after photos. I'm done with house projects from now on. I realized as I was trying to paint behind the toilet it's getting really hard to bend over and do much of anything comfortably for that matter, therefore I'm done! No more projects until this belly is gone and baby is here.

A Good Morning to you!

Rhododendron Bush

My most favorite plant we have is the rhododendron bush. I absolutely love love love it! But sadly it blooms and dies all too quickly. It's not the prettiest bush during the year, but when it's in bloom it's amazing!

And a pic of the 33 week belly! :-)  Just 7 more weeks till we meet baby girl! (maybe less if we're lucky).

A Good Day

And ideal Saturday is to leisurely wake up (if that's really possible to do with an 18 month old) look outside and see warm blue skies, then head to the neighborhood coffee shop grab the coffee and scones and go on over to our neighborhood park (Manito Park) and spend the morning outside as a family.  Then have friends over for an evening BBQ.  And that is exactly what we did this Saturday. This was a good day!

Josiah loves loves loves pointing at the water and saying "duck" over and over again. Martin actually ran into the water and tried to catch himself a duck for breakfast.

Boredom or Nesting?

So the past week while Brian was gone, I'v done some major cleaning, organizing, throwing out, storing, unstoring, painting, hanging etc... The weather here has been rainy and cold so that has helped with us just staying inside.  While Brian was hiking I was painting the guest room and a hallway.  I hung new shades in the sun room, got the crib ready to go for baby (even though it will still be months before she's actually sleeping in it).  Dad and mom, I think you two are the only ones that really knew what my house looked like before, but below are some pictures of the projects I'v been working on in the house.

Good news is we have family moving to Spokane!!!!  Brian's parents are officially moving to WA to live!  They will stay with us for a few weeks until they find a place of their own.  It's exciting to think that Josiah will get to live around and get to know his grandparents (at least one set of them).

So was it because I'v been bored or am I really "nesting" as they say? Either way, it's Productive!

New and improved Guest room pictured below (mom remember how Blah it was before!?)
